In a bid to curb the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19), JSE-listed Spear Reit, the owner of the DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town, has unveiled sanitized sanctuaries and self-quarantine accommodation.

This comes after government introduced travel bans from high-risk countries such as Italy, Iran, Spain, Germany and the US.

Amid concerns about the challenges of social distancing, Spear, the Cape focused property group is offering rooms in its Doubletree by Hilton hotel which is equipped with hygiene hampers and isolation facilities for self-quarantined citizens.

Special procedures and precautions have been put in place to protect all guests, staff and non-hotel guests making use of the general property, according to Francois Steyn, Hospitality Asset Manager at Spear Reit.

The hotel is situated in the Upper Eastside precinct in Woodstock, Cape Town. Guests will receive access to high-speed internet, in-room dining which caters to all dietary requirements, connected in-room AV solutions providing access to streaming services and much more.

Quintin Rossi, CEO at Spear Reit says that the group has a dedicated concierge service that will be made available to assist with management and delivery of online orders to your room whilst maintaining the strictest health and safety protocols.

"With all that is going on in the world right now this welcome back and #loveoneanother campaign intended to strengthen the human fabric, save lives and save jobs. We are stronger together as a nation when we work together to beat COVID-19. This is our thuma mina moment,” said Rossi.

The hotel is closely located to major hospitals Vincent Palotti, Groote Schuur & Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital.

Spear joins the Capital Hotels and Apartments Group, which has also launched self-isolation facilities this week.

President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national state of disaster, stopped flights and revoked tourist visas to visitors from high-risk countries.

The finance, tourism, hospitality, retail and entertainment industries are likely to take the biggest knock. Our home-grown SA hotel chain has already received more than 60% cancellations for the next two months.
