Pretoria — Key stakeholders in the construction of roads in the North West province will this morning hold a consultative Provincial Roads Summit at the Mmabatho Convention Centre.

The aim of the summit is for decision-makers, including representatives of the South African National Road Agency Limited (SANRAL) and national Department of Transport, to pen a roadmap that will ensure community road projects are reprioritised and are completed.

The summit is also expected to adopt a declaration at its conclusion.

"The declaration to be adopted at the conclusion of the summit should become a blueprint and performance measure for communities to hold the provincial Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport accountable for road infrastructure delivery.

"Our communities and road users deserve quality and safer roads," said North West Premier Thandi Modise.

Modise is to deliver the keynote address at the summit, which was preceded by district engagements where delegates were engaged on plans for the development of new roads, major maintenance and other related road projects.
