Free Wi-Fi hotspots for Middleburg Mall shoppers
With buzz words like multi-channel retailing floating around, Middelburg Mall has clearly paid attention to the importance of extending its shopping experience.
This ‘small town’ mall took a giant step forward to the leading edge of retail in South Africa with its decision to turn one of its info kiosks into a computer station. The kiosk is fitted with three PCs as well as free Wi-Fi for shoppers to use and enjoy and currently is operational.
Middelburg Mall Centre Manager Mike Tammadge says: “Middleburg Mall prides itself on convenience and ease of access to our excellent variety of top brands and leading retailers. Now, we’re also providing ease of online access and convenience.”
“We always aim to make shopping easier and better, and the new computer station will certainly do just that,” says Tammadge.
By introducing its innovative service for shoppers, Middelburg Mall has become one of the first South African malls to offer customers free Wi-Fi and computers to go online.
With South Africa’s Internet users expected to increase to around nine million soon, a recent report by the South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) encouraged shopping centres to take advantage of the growth in the online market.
With exponential growth seen in the sale of smart phones, free Wi-Fi was just one of the many recommendations made for retailers to provide their customers with an enhanced shopping experience.
