During Auction Alliance’s most recent auction, held in Johannesburg on June 23, the sale of a prime Vaalwater farm came with an unusual addition.

The expansive farm, extending over 1162.3320ha, and situated in the renowned Vaalwater area of Limpopo, fetched R7 million, and along with the outstanding price achieved, a salami was thrown in to seal the deal.

Comments Martin Van Zyl of Auction Alliance, “The buyer of the Kasjet farm has a butchery just outside of Pretoria. When I met him there last week, he signed the offer, gave me a cheque for a million and also gave me one of his salamis from the butchery. When things got tight with the seller, we threw in the salami to sweeten the deal”.

The farm Kasjet is situated in the Vaalwater area, more specifically in the Melkrivier area, approximately 40kms north of Vaalwater. The Vaalwater area is home to some of South Africa’s premier game farms and lodges.  The water rich property has the Melkrivier running through it for approximately 1.5kms.

The farm stretches over both sides of the gravel road that leads to the farm. The larger component stretches over 900ha and features 11kms of 2.4m high game proof fencing.  The property features a variety of game including Impala, Kudu and Red Hartebeest.

“Due to its close proximity to urban areas and location within close proximity to high profile game farms, demand for small and medium sized game farms in the Vaalwater area has been profuse”, adds Van Zyl.
