A new wave of high quality developments aimed at the affordable housing market is gaining momentum in the country.

One such development is Beacon Views, located in the Beacon Hill Country Estate in Pietermaritzburg. This development provides the best of secure estate country living and is situated on a stretch of high ground consisting of savannah grassland and overlooking the KwaZulu Natal provincial capital, Pietermaritzburg.

Beacon Views, the first phase of this 163 unit sectional title scheme being developed by Anton Mostert and supported by the turnkey management and contracting capabilities of The Stedone Group of Companies, is now almost complete.

“Our goal with the sectional title developments within Beacon Hill is to be able to offer an affordable housing alternative to home buyers when compared to freehold homes on the estate, whilst not compromising on the overall upmarket aspect of lifestyle estate living offered by the Beacon Hill Development,” says Anton Mostert, Director at Tenderscan (Pty) Ltd.

As a result, homes on Beacon Views are set to redefine the meaning of affordable housing value. The quality of interior and exterior finishes has not been compromised in any manner, with the homes also having spacious gardens and ample space between to allow for a high standard of community living. Phase 1, Beacon Views, is sold out and phase 2, Beacon Heights, is 50% sold, which positions us to soon begin work on phase 3, namely Beacon Mews.”

Financed by Nedbank Corporate Property Finance: Affordable Housing for R7 million, this development is a reflection of the partnerships that the bank seeks in delivering quality, affordable homes. “Our commitment to making housing a reality in South Africa goes beyond merely providing finance, but ensuring that we partner with credible developers to deliver high quality homes,” says Manie Annandale, head of Affordable Housing at Nedbank.

The houses measure from 50m² to 85m² and the average selling price is R593 250, with a selling price of R499 000 for 50m² 2 bedroom houses.
