Prestigious SAPOA Awards to honour South Africa’s top quality buildings

Often fought fiercely to gain, Developers, Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyor, and Property Owners are set to compete for the prestigious SAPOA Property Development Awards for Innovative Excellence.

In an exceptional showcase of extraordinary property development, the SAPOA Property Development Awards for Innovative Excellence, acknowledges and recognize some of the most remarkable projects that contribute towards to South Africa's built environment.

The South African Property Owners Association (Sapoa) is once again excited to invite entries for this year’s installment of the awards.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Sapoa Annual International Convention and Property Exhibition gala diner to be held at Sun City, North West Province, from 3-5 June 2020.

There are 13 categories which can be entered, namely: Commercial Office Development, Corporate Office Development, Industrial Development, Innovative Award, Interiors Award, International Development, Mixed-use Development, Other Developments, Refurbishments, Residential Developments, Retail Developments - Large Regional Mall (More than 25,000m²), Retail Developments - Small Boutique  (Less than 25,000m²) and Rural & Small-town Development.

Each category has very strict criteria that need to be met. The award per category will be made based on the overall excellence of the development having regard to these criteria or property solutions.

Zinon Marinakos, Chairperson of the SAPOA Property Development Awards for Innovative Excellence, says the team of judges are constantly interrogating the categories and improving the criteria to ensure that all building types are acknowledged.

“The entry categories this year vary from Corporate and commercial Office Developments to Industrial, International, Residential and Mixed-use Developments. We have recently introduced categories for Rural & Small-town Developments, Retail Refurbishments, and Interiors Awards,” he says.

Also, all entries will be evaluated for Overall Awards in the categories Overall Transformation Award, Overall Heritage Award, Overall Green Sustainability Award, Overall Innovative Award, and Overall Award respectively.

All submissions will be featured in the 6th Edition of the 2020 SAPOA Innovative Excellence coffee table book.

The closing date for entries is Monday 23 March 2020.
