Protea Glen Mall, which opened for business on Thursday 27th September, is set to become the suburb’s leading shopping centre, boasting 30 000m2 of popular retail stores.

After a highly successful leasing process, the 30,000m² Protea Glen Shopping Centre in Soweto recently opened its doors, with 90 stores offering an exceptional array of goods and services to shoppers in surrounding high-growth residential areas.

Major nationals moved quickly to secure space in the high-demand Protea Glen Shopping Centre in Soweto, with twin anchors Shoprite and Pick 'n Pay with 3,500m² each and Edgars taking up 2,500m².

Situated at the high-traffic nexus of Protea Boulevard and the R558 - the main arterial between Lenasia and Krugersdorp – the R360 million centre is the only retail destination in this fast-growth residential area.

The centre developed by Masingita Property Investment Holdings, in partnership with Vlaming Developers, also serves commuters from Lenasia, Krugersdorp, Randfontein and Potchefstroom.

Mike Nkuna of Masingita Property Investment Holdings says, "Protea Glen has opened up the retail horizons of the local economy, and we are very pleased with the superb new unique retail offering at the centre."

"Opening day at Protea Glen was a success and we look forward to being a valuable part of this great community which has encouraged and supported Protea Glen every step of the way," says Jan Vlaming of Vlaming Developers.

The tenant mix caters to all needs and tastes, explains Gavin Tagg of leasing specialists Retail Network Services, whether shoppers need groceries, furniture or a hair stylist. "The retail offering includes a wealth of options and choices," he explains.

A furniture shopper, for example, can browse the selection at The Bed Shop, OK Furniture, Ellerines and Morkels – and then look for homewares at Pep Home, Sheet Street or Cascade Curtains. Clothes shoppers are likewise spoilt for choice, with Legit, Exact, Walk Tall, The Fashion People, Shoe Zone and Fashion World, among many others.

The centre also offers Shoprite and Pick n Pay, banks, Fast food and PostNet, dry cleaners, Studio 88, Matrix Computers and Ismail Opticals.
"Retailers are both national and local, expanding the selection available to shoppers," adds Tagg.

Retail Network Services is a full-service specialist retail leasing company which ensures that the intricate - and often puzzling – tenant mix is crafted to suit each centre's unique footprint – a key factor in the successful leasing of Protea Glen.
