Sandton’s successful Grayston Shopping Centre will soon offer even more convenient shopping and dining, perfect for the busy, healthy lifestyles of the many people who live and work nearby.

The first phase of the revamped Grayston Shopping Centre will open on 15 March 2012 and ultimately bring the centre to some 4,500sqm.

Prominently located beside one of SA’s largest and long-serving Virgin Active gyms, the centre boasts a refreshed, repositioned 1,160sqm Woolworths store as anchor tenant.

“Consistent high demand for retail premises at Grayston Shopping Centre prompted this upgrade,” explains Gavin Tagg of Retail Network Services, which is responsible for the retail dynamics of this project.

The Tiber Group, owners of Grayston Shopping Centre, are taking a three-phased upgrade approach. The first phase moves Woolworths to a fresh, new store of the latest specifications, opening this month. Phase two ends in June 2012, and final phase will be completed by year end.

Crafting a tenant mix to suit the shopping centre’s footprint is what full-service specialist retail leasing company Retail Network Services successfully set out to do. “With Grayston Shopping Centre, we are maximising the centre’s benefits: prime location, proven trading record, comprehensive tenant mix and enviable shopper market,” says Tagg.

The convenience centre is on the corner of Helen Road and Grayston Drive, the gateway to Sandton central.

Grayston Shopping Centre enjoys easy, direct access from one of the major traffic arteries in the Sandton area, and is close to both the Sandton CBD the M1 and N1 highways. The shopping centre also offers generous single level parking.

“The upgrade will provide the everyday basics for a healthy lifestyle for people who live, work and travel in the area, especially those with demanding schedules and who seek healthy balance despite the hectic pace of today’s world,” says Tagg.

Grayston Pharmacy will provide expanded ranges and a variety of health and wellness essentials, in addition to the Centre’s medical suites that are also expanding in size with Torga Optical rounding off the vitality focus. Viso Bello Skincare Centre has traded at Grayston Shopping Centre for the past 22 years. Its new store is larger and will offer a full range of skin care and new treatments.

To make life simpler, there are ATMs, hairdressing for women and men at Foil Styling and Armando Barber, small screen entertainment rentals at Absolutely Fabulous Video and great menus to eat from. Food choices include restaurants Andiccio 24, Vovo Telo, and for food-on-the-run there’s Steers and Kung Fu Kitchen.

All in all, the centre will have 23 shops. “Every retailer has been specially selected to complement and enhance Grayston Shopping Centre’s ethos of bringing convenient healthy everyday living to a market which values time, ease and wellness above all,” notes Tagg. He adds that the introduction of retailers to the remaining new stores will be equally in step with shoppers’ lifestyles. “A few opportunities still exist in the new health and beauty node being created on the upper level of the centre. It is the ideal location for specialist retailers to reach this valuable market in a centre that has an established strong trading record.”
