With ground breaking diarised for 13 January 2012 and a host of national tenants confirmed, the future looks great for a new retail development soon to change the face of Harding in KwaZulu Natal.

Developers Amber Dawn have secured a number of exciting national tenants, including Shoprite (Leasing 3200m2 of the 9200m2 centre), Shoprite Liquors, Price & Pride, Ellerines, OK Furnishers, MTN and Spec Savers. Harding Pharmacy has also confirmed that it will be moving to the new centre once it is complete.

In addition, various other national franchises, including well known fast food chains, are currently in lease negotiations, and will hopefully soon be confirmed as tenants.

While letting space Harding Corner will predominantly be taken up by large stores, meeting a very necessary retail need in this small rural town, the developer has also included a separate node of 34 small retail stores to provide a structured trading area for local businesses. This will, to a large extent, eliminate the need for many local businesses to operate as street traders and ultimately improve the aesthetics of Harding Corner as a whole. The retail node is a unique feature that has not been seen in rural shopping centre design in South Africa, and will add even further to the shopping experience offered at Harding. “The area will be attractively designed and monitored with CCTV to ensure the safety of both shoppers and tenants”, said Ed Peen Chairman of Amber Dawn.

With everything on track now, Harding residents can expect to be enjoying a fantastic new shopping centre by the end of 2012: a long time in coming, but certainly worth the wait.
