Green Building Council will host sustainability director from London Olympics

Hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in October, the Green Building Council Convention is one of the highlights on the South Africa sustainability calendar.

Consistently delivering cutting edge and global best practice in green building, this year’s headline keynote speaker is the Head of Sustainability and Regeneration for the London 2012 Olympics.

Transformation of Cities

A number of highly sought after speakers in the industry have been confirmed for this years’ event. These include Dan Epstein - Head of Sustainability and Regeneration for the London 2012 Olympic Delivery Authority. His topic “Sustainability and London Olympics Park 2012: Lessons for the Transformation of the Cities”, will highlight the sustainability aspects of the Olympic Park which are set to bring new life to the East End of the City of London. 

The economics of green building

The speaker schedule also features Nils Kok, an associate professor in Finance and Real Estate at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and a visiting scholar at the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley; Frank Berkeley, Managing Executive of Property Finance, Nedbank Corporate and a director of Attfund Ltd, Acucap and Sycom Property Fund Managers Limited; and Matthew Faddy, the head of Asset Management at one of Australia’s largest diversified listed property groups, GPT.

They will be presenting alongside Bruce Kerswill, the Executive Chairman of the GBCSA as well as the Vice Chairman of the World Green Building Council (World GBC) and Brian Wilkinson, the CEO of the Green Building Council of South Africa, from the 23rd to the 25th of October 2012.

The convention includes two days of keynote speeches, panel discussions and facilitated debates on topical sustainability issues.  The two pre-conference education day hosts expert master classes and workshops to maximise knowledge sharing.
