More than 250 speakers on the MIPIM 2012 conference program

France - More than 250 experts from the real estate sector will contribute to the content of the MIPIM 2012 conference program, sharing their knowledge and views on key current real estate issues.

At a time when the euro zone is riddled with doubt and uncertainty, two fund managers and two investors, Bernard Phang, Managing Director of GIC Real Estate (Government of Singapore Investment Corporation), Robert Weaver, Partner at TPG Capital (USA), Juan Pepa, Managing Director at Lone Star (UK) and Peter Pereira Gray, Managing Director of Investments at The Wellcome Trust (UK), will discuss the impact of the debt crisis on European real estate investment. They will focus on foreign institutional investor interest in these assets and on the new situation affecting certain European banks acting as vendors. This session, jointly organized by the PERE publication, will be held on Wednesday, 7th March at 11:30 am.

A few months before the opening of the London Olympics, Andrew Altman, CEO of the Olympic Park Legacy Company (UK), will highlight the impact of sporting events on the economic and urban development of cities. In this same panel, Mateu Hernández, CEO of Barcelona Global (Spain), Brian Field, Adviser to the European Investment Bank (Luxemburg), and Pierre Guyard, Market Director Cities and Residential at Cofely GDF SUEZ (France), will look at the sustainable management of the daily use of post-competition sports facilities, one of the major challenges facing the cities that host large events. This will be held on Wednesday, 7th March at 3:30 pm.

MA Yansong (China), Thomas Willemeit (Germany), Kim Herforth Nielsen (Denmark) and Tobias Nolte (France), who belong to the rising generation of architects, will discuss issues shaping tomorrow's buildings in a session jointly organized by Lord Culture, a consulting firm specialized in the cultural sector. They will moot an approach to architectural innovation that is not restricted to purely aesthetic qualities, but which also takes into account the quality of materials, systems management, energy flows and the adaptability of buildings to user needs. These themes will be highlighted throughout MIPIM in the 'Building Innovation' program including a series of exhibitions, conferences and best-practice sharing sessions. This session will be held on Thursday, 8th March at 11:30 am.

Giovanni Alemanno (Italy), the Mayor of Rome, will discuss his active policy of urban development in a conference to be held on Wednesday, 7th March at 5:30 pm. Among the current projects, Giovanni Alemanno will talk about three main developments: Ostia Waterfront, the requalification of Tor Bella Monaca District and the Rome Museum. These infrastructures are crucial for Rome and will have a strong impact on the city’s urbanization development.
