The South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) and the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) have announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which will see the two key players in their different sectors working together.

SAPOA is the representative body of commercial and industrial property in the country while KLCBT represents organised business in the lowveld which is also seen as their official voice for their business interests.

KLCBT is also seen as the only service provider to the business community in the area.

The two parties signed the MOU in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga and were represented by Andries Oosthuizen, Chairman of the Business Chamber of the KLCBT and James Aling, Chairman of the regional branch of SAPOA in Mpumalanga.

"The two organizations have committed to work together in pursuit of common interest. They will collaborate to foster a common vision, goals and approach between both the public and private sectors regarding economic, policy and development issues," the two parties said in a joint statement at the event.

They agreed that the commercial property sector was seriously facing a mirage of challenges because of stringent policies and scope of service delivery at national, provincial and local government levels.

"Lobbying and addressing government about existing and proposed policies, legislation and operational issues that are prejucial in nature to us will be the key product of this alliance," the statement further read.
