The real value of recorded building plans passed (at constant 2010 prices) increased by 8.4% during January to July 2015‚ data released by Stats SA on Thursday showed.

Increases were recorded for residential buildings (10.8% or R2.1bn)‚ additions and alterations (7.7% or R841.9m) and non-residential buildings (4.9% or R567.9m).

The real value of buildings reported as completed (at constant 2010 prices) increased by 1.3% or R299.2m year on year during January to July 2015.

Residential buildings rose by 12.3% or R1.5bn and non-residential buildings fell by 18.5% or R1.2bn.
