Atterbury has confirmed that it is developing a 46,000sqm head office campus, customer walk in centre, data/IT centre and warehouse for third mobile operator Cell C at Waterfall Business Estate.

In 2008, Atterbury secured the commercial development rights for 330 ha of prime land north of Sandton. Waterfall Business Estate, is in total a staggering 1,6 million square metre mixed-use commercial development - the most ambitious of its kind being undertaken in South Africa.

Atterbury Property Developments Director Coenie Bezuidenhout says: “We are pleased to welcome Cell C to Waterfall Business Estate. The Cell C development will break ground in July 2012. It includes offices, distribution warehouse and customer care centre, and will also result in improved road infrastructure in the area. The premises are scheduled for Cell C’s occupation at the end of 2013, on a 15 year lease. The development also offers Cell C some 14,000sqm of future development potential.”

“We’re currently spread all over the place,” says Cell C CEO Alan Knott-Craig “Everything will now be in one building. We will build a new NOC, IT and data centres, and a proper customer care centre. There’ll be nothing on the campus you can’t do.”

Unifying northern Sandton and Midrand, Waterfall spans both sides of the N1 highway, from Woodmead Interchange through the bustling Buccleuch Interchange to Allandale Interchange. It joins Modderfontein in the east, reaching beyond Kyalami in the west. It enjoys superb access from Pretoria, Sandton and Joburg.

The development of Waterfall Business Estate will be market-driven, and roll out over the next 14 years with a total value well over R25 billion.

Leading SA property fund Atterbury Investment Holdings (AIH) is the major investor in Waterfall Business Estate, with an 80% stake, 20% is owned by Atterbury Property Development.

Cell C is among a number of prestigious companies who are opting to locate their operations at Waterfall Business Estate.  Altech Group will take occupation of a 4,200sqm office building in Woodmead North Office Park in the next few months.

A 30,000sqm distribution centre for Walmart's Massbuild and an 8,000sqm distribution warehouse for Digistics, which services fast food industry companies like KFC and McDonalds, are currently under construction.
