Green Building Council hones its focus on sustainability training
In response to evident need, coupled with industry demand, the Green Building Council of South Africa - the country’s leading green building authority – continues to offer exciting workshops in addition to their existing Accredited Professional training courses.
Greening the Inside: Commercial Interiors
In anticipation of the launch of the Green Star SA Commercial Interiors Tool later this year, the GBCSA are offering this great introduction to green interior design. Course material was developed for us by industry expert, Michelle Ludwig, commercial sustainable interior architect, and green design consultant. Michelle also facilitates this fascinating interactive and practical workshop.
The course, which is taking place in Cape Town on 08 May 2012, is suitable for anyone who is involved in building selection, brief development, consultant engagement, project design and delivery, supervision or construction of interiors projects.
No green building knowledge or experience is required and attendees will earn 0.3 CPD points in category one from both SAIA and CESA.
Green Star SA Project Certification Workshop
This half day course is aimed at those who wish to gain greater insight into the certification process and the collation of high-quality Green Star SA submissions for formal green building certification.
With the Green Building movement fast gaining momentum in South Africa it has become increasingly important for professionals within the built environment to understand what constitutes best practise in SA and how to go about achieving it.
Anyone considering a Green Star submission should attend this invaluable workshop. The course offers guidance and clarity on the individual credit topics – these being Energy Conditional Requirements and Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Air Change Effectiveness, Thermal Comfort, Daylight and Daylight Glare Control. Also covered is the requisite documentation required for both ''Design'' and ''As Built'' projects, with demonstrations and energy modelling reports being used as examples of what should be included in the documentation submitted to assessors.
The next dates for this important course are Cape Town, 28th of May and Johannesburg, 28th of June.
This course is validated for 0.4 CPD points in category 1 from CESA and SAIA and is suitable for any professional interested in deepening their understanding of the Green Star SA rating system.
Green Star SA Simulations and Submissions Seminar
This one day course looks at 3D computer modelling as a tool for demonstrating and then improving the performance of your building through design.
The course explores the various types of software available, demonstrates how it can be used to show compliance with relevant credits in the Energy and IEQ categories and works through a case study.
Groups are limited to 20 allowing ample time for interaction with Chilufya Lombe, mechanical engineer, Green Star SA Assessor and experienced 3D modeller.
This course is validated for 1 CPD point in Category one from CESA and SAIA and will be held in Johannesburg of the 26th of June. Prior attendance of the Green Star SA Accredited Professional course is recommended.
Green Star SA Accredited Professional Course
The GBCSA’s core offering that introduces the Green Star rating tools and is the first requirement for obtaining status as a Green Star SA Accredited Professional will be travelling the country over the next few months.
In Port Elizabeth on the 24th of May; in Johannesburg on the 6th of June; in Durban on the7th of June and in Cape Town on the 2nd of August, this course is validated for 1 CPD point in category one from CESA and SAIA.
