5-star guest farm to fall under the hammer
Strathwold farm, a world-class, 5-star equestrian and trout farm situated in the picturesque Machadodorp, Mpumalanga will be falling under Auction Alliance’s gavel.
The auction will take place on February 15. The luxury guest farm lies approximately 2.5 hours by car from Johannesburg within the greater Machadodorp area, and is easily accessible via the N4 highway.
A nature-lovers paradise; the farm offers exceptional views of the surrounding countryside. Nestled within a sub-alpine climate, the property provides ideal conditions for the breeding of trout and also boasts indigenous fauna and flora.
The property strikes a fine balance between modern luxury while still preserving its unique heritage, with several refurbished buildings dating from the Anglo Boer War completing the improvements.
The farm which measures 353ha includes a river and 6 pristine dams that are stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout and offer some of the best fly-fishing in the country. The land is home to a variety of stunning birdlife and wildlife including Reedbuck, Duiker, Caracal and Porcupine.
Stratford House, with four en suite double bedrooms, is the largest of the four luxury cottages set out on the property. A Jacuzzi and braai facilities on the large wooden deck, which overlooks a 4 hectare dam, make this perfect for relaxed entertaining.
The other three cottages differ in size, but all are finished to the highest standards with upmarket fittings and furnishings. There is a king size honeymoon cottage on the water’s edge, a refurbished cottage dating from the Anglo Boer war near the stables and another luxury 2 bedroom wooden cottage overlooking the dam.
A separate manager’s residence consists of a single-storey home comprising 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, dining room, store room and a covered patio area.
The latest addition is a newly constructed helicopter hangar with a large paved landing area. The interior of hangar includes an office space, a lounge and entertainment area, a change room and a bar.
“Everything about this unique property is world-class, from the luxurious accommodation units and the modern helicopter hangar to the trout dams and stables. It is truly a special property set in stunning surroundings,” comments Martin van Zyl of Auction Alliance.
At present, the property is owner occupied; however there are no formal lease agreements in place and therefore the property is to be sold on the basis of vacant occupation.
The auction will take place on February 15 at 12h00 at the Hyatt Hotel, 191 Oxford Street, Rosebank.
